How to Get Involved
The success of Hope House depends on the efforts and enthusiasm of hundreds of volunteers. These volunteers perform the variety of tasks necessary to provide a safe and comfortable temporary home for Hope House guests. Volunteers express their hospitality by interacting with guests, treating guest families with dignity and respect, and showing the genuine concern for their well-being. You don’t need to donate thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of service to make a difference. In fact, you can make a difference by volunteering one hour a week or a single donation of food or hygiene products.
Ways to Volunteer:
Make a Financial Contribution
Hope House maintains low operating costs, but still relies on the generosity of individuals, service clubs, businesses, and congregations for support.
Make It Personal. Volunteer.
There are lots of ways for volunteers to participate at Hope House. The amount of time you donate is up to you! Training is provided for all volunteers.
Volunteer as a Family
Hope House is a very family-friendly volunteer opportunity! Make and serve a dinner as a family or teach a new hobby to a guest! There are many safe and fun ways to engage your children in volunteering and learning about homelessness.
Host Congregation volunteers provide hospitality to Hope House guest families through their congregations. These volunteers provide meals, overnight hospitality, and a friendly face.
Support Congregations provide volunteers to a nearby Host Congregation to help support their team.
Host coordinators are supported by other volunteers within their Congregation. Each Congregation has a primary coordinator with responsibility for managing the host week, scheduling the volunteers and filling their host week schedules.
These volunteers donate furniture, gather household supplies for guest families and help transport furniture when families are ready to move into their new homes.
Hope House needs many volunteers who are interested in assisting with special events.
Teach classes in parenting, budgeting, nutrition, computer skills, art or anything else you can dream up!
